Ragamuffin Cats are descendents of Ragdoll Cats crossed with Persians and Himalayans. The name Ragamuffin started as a joke when a group of Ragdoll breeders broke off with the official breed association and simply renamed their stock. Ragamuffins are now more prevalent than Ragdolls, and Ragdoll Cats are considered a Ragamuffin sub-category.
